A 200km trail around Mount Olympus from the Aegean coast to the mountain's high flanks, passing through the dramatic Enipeas Gorge, ancient monasteries, and forests of Balkan pine. The route rises from Mediterranean scrubland at sea level through dense forest to the alpine zone, where the mythological home of the Greek gods towers above. Expect hot conditions at lower elevations, cooler mountain terrain, and a dramatic altitude range. Mountain refuges on Olympus are basic but atmospheric. The combination of classical mythology and genuine mountain terrain makes this a unique walking experience.
