    Adlerweg (Eagle's Way)

    Austria · Tyrol
    Mountainous

A 420km trail shaped like an eagle's flight path across Tyrol from St Johann to St Anton am Arlberg. The route traverses the Wilder Kaiser, Karwendel, and Lechtal Alps, crossing high passes and descending to traditional Tyrolean villages in the Inn Valley. Expect dramatic alpine scenery, well-run Austrian mountain huts (Hütten) serving excellent food, and a mix of gentle valley walking and serious mountain terrain. The Karwendel section is particularly wild, with limestone peaks and chamois. Cable cars can be used to shorten some stages. A comprehensive traverse of Austria's most mountainous province.
