    Salzburger Almenweg

    Austria · Salzburg
    Challenging

A 350km circular trail through 120 alpine pastures (Almen) in the Salzburg region, linking traditional mountain dairy huts that serve fresh cheese, buttermilk, and Kasnocken. The route crosses flower-filled meadows, mountain ridges, and forested valleys in the Salzburg Alps. Expect a strong pastoral character — cattle bells and working dairy farms are constant companions. Mountain huts and valley guesthouses provide comfortable Austrian hospitality. The trail consists of multiple interconnected stages, allowing flexible itineraries. The combination of mountain walking and alpine food culture makes this a distinctively Austrian experience.
