    Alpe Adria Trail (Northern Section)

    Austria/Slovenia/Italy · Alps – Eastern Alps
    Challenging

The northern section of the Alpe Adria Trail runs 250km from the foot of the Grossglockner — Austria's highest peak — through the Julian Alps and into the Adriatic foothills. The route crosses three countries and descends gradually from high alpine terrain through forested valleys and emerald-green rivers. Expect diverse landscapes, changing cultures and cuisines, and a well-waymarked trail with good infrastructure. Highlights include the turquoise Soča River in Slovenia and the Carnic Alps ridge. A rewarding multi-country traverse with varied difficulty.
