A 250km trail across Cyprus from the Mediterranean coast through the Troodos Mountains, climbing to Mount Olympus (1952m) — the island's highest point. The route passes UNESCO-listed Byzantine painted churches hidden in mountain villages, cedar forests, and ancient sites associated with Aphrodite. Expect hot coastal sections giving way to cooler mountain terrain with pine forests, and a landscape marked by copper mining history. Village accommodation and simple mountain shelters are available. Cypriot cuisine — halloumi, meze, souvla — provides excellent trail fuel. Spring and autumn offer the best conditions.
