    Hadrian's Wall Path

    England · Northern England
    Hilly

Follow the line of the Roman frontier for 138km from Wallsend on the Tyne to Bowness-on-Solway on the Irish Sea. The trail traces the remains of Hadrian's Wall through Northumberland's rolling countryside, passing remarkably preserved forts at Housesteads and Vindolanda, turrets, milecastles, and the dramatic Whin Sill crags. The terrain is mostly gentle with some hilly sections along the central crags. Accommodation and facilities are plentiful, making this a rewarding and accessible walk rich in Roman history.
