    GR5 Belgium Section

    Belgium · Ardennes
    Hilly

A 200km section of the GR5 through the Belgian Ardennes, crossing the Hautes Fagnes — Belgium's highest and wildest landscape — and descending through deep wooded valleys. The route passes raised peat bogs, spruce forests, and the valley of the Amblève river. Expect well-waymarked paths through rolling forested terrain, with regular villages offering accommodation and Belgian café culture. The Hautes Fagnes plateau has a sub-alpine character, with boardwalks crossing waterlogged terrain. The Ardennes forests are beautiful in autumn and can be snowy in winter. Good Belgian beer and chocolate along the way.
