A 440km trail through Swedish Lapland from Abisko to Kvikkjokk, passing near Kebnekaise — Sweden's highest peak — and crossing vast mountain plateaus above the treeline. The route follows U-shaped glacial valleys, fords rivers on rowing boats, and passes through Sámi reindeer herding country. Expect midnight sun in summer, mosquitoes in July, and well-spaced STF mountain huts with basic supplies. The terrain is generally moderate but the remoteness and unpredictable weather demand self-sufficiency. Autumn brings spectacular colours as the birch forests turn golden in September.
