A 450km gentle trail through the historic Uppland region north of Stockholm, passing Viking-age runestones, medieval churches, and Iron Age burial sites. The route follows forest paths, quiet country roads, and lakeside trails through a landscape of birch and pine forests, farmland, and small Swedish villages. Expect flat to gently rolling terrain with well-marked paths and regular access to villages for supplies. The cultural richness is the main draw — Uppland has more runestones than anywhere else in Sweden. An accessible trail suited to those interested in Scandinavian history.
