A 100km trek combining Iceland's two most celebrated trails — the Laugavegur from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk and the Fimmvörðuháls pass to Skógafoss. The route crosses colourful rhyolite mountains, black obsidian deserts, glacial valleys, and passes between two glaciers on the Fimmvörðuháls ridge. Expect geothermal hot springs for bathing, mountain huts that fill quickly, and dramatic volcanic landscapes shaped by the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption. River crossings, sudden weather changes, and limited visibility are common. Booking huts well in advance is essential during the short summer season.
