    Lycian Way

    Turkey · Mediterranean Coast
    Challenging

A 500km trail along Turkey's ancient Lycian coast from Fethiye to Antalya, passing Hellenistic ruins, Byzantine churches, and Ottoman villages. The route follows goat paths along dramatic sea cliffs, climbs to mountain villages above the treeline, and descends to secluded Mediterranean beaches. Expect hot conditions from May onwards, limited water in some sections, and a mix of pensions, camping, and village homestays. The Lycian rock tombs carved into cliff faces are a highlight. The trail is best walked in spring (March-May) when wildflowers bloom and temperatures are pleasant, or in autumn.
