    Via Alpina 1 (Sargans–Montreux)

Switzerland · Alps – Swiss Alps
    Mountainous

A grand 390km traverse of the Swiss Alps from Sargans to Montreux, crossing many of Switzerland's most iconic landscapes. The route passes through the Appenzell hills, over the Bernese Oberland passes beneath the Eiger and Jungfrau, and descends to Lake Geneva. Expect high mountain passes, glacier views, and traditional Swiss mountain villages. The trail uses a mix of mountain huts, guesthouses, and valley hotels. Well-waymarked throughout, but the cumulative ascent of 23,000m demands sustained fitness over several weeks.
