    Cleveland Way

    England · Yorkshire
    Hilly

A 177km horseshoe-shaped national trail around the North York Moors from Helmsley to Filey Brigg. The inland section crosses heather moorland with expansive views, passing the iconic ruin of Rievaulx Abbey and the Cleveland Hills escarpment. The coastal section follows dramatic cliffs past Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, and Staithes — traditional fishing villages clinging to steep hillsides. Expect purple heather in late summer and bracing sea air on the coast. Good accommodation throughout, with regular bus connections to York.
