A demanding 180km circuit of the Oisans massif through wild landscapes, high passes, and remote valleys in the Écrins National Park. The trail crosses some of the most rugged terrain in the French Alps, with steep rocky climbs, snow-covered cols, and isolated refuges. Expect fewer walkers than on more popular Alpine circuits, and a genuine sense of wilderness. The route passes through La Grave beneath the Meije glacier and climbs to exposed passes with expansive views. Strong fitness and mountain experience are needed for this serious undertaking.
