    Tour des Écrins

    France · Alps – Écrins
    Mountainous

A 160km circuit of the Écrins massif through deep valleys, over high passes, and past towering glaciated peaks in the southern French Alps. The route passes through the Écrins National Park — France's largest — with rich wildlife including marmots, chamois, and golden eagles. Expect steep daily climbs, well-run CAF refuges, and a quieter atmosphere than the nearby Tour du Mont Blanc. The southern position brings warmer temperatures and clearer skies. Wildflower meadows are spectacular in July, and the night skies are remarkably dark.
