    Walker's Haute Route

    France/Switzerland · Alps – Valais
    Mountainous

A 200km high-level route from Chamonix to Zermatt crossing the grain of the Valais Alps, with daily ascents to passes above 2500m. Each day descends into a different Swiss valley — Arolla, Evolène, Grimentz — before climbing again. The trail offers close-up views of the Matterhorn, Dent Blanche, and Monte Rosa massif. Expect sustained climbing, some exposed sections, and the need for early starts. Mountain huts and valley hotels provide accommodation. A physically demanding route requiring good fitness and mountain experience.
