    Slovenian Mountain Trail

    Slovenia · Julian/Kamnik Alps
    Mountainous

A 500km national trail from Maribor to Ankaran on the Adriatic, traversing the Julian Alps, Kamnik-Savinja Alps, and Karst plateaus. The route crosses Slovenia's highest terrain including approaches to Triglav (2864m), the national symbol. Expect via ferrata passages, exposed ridges, and well-run mountain huts (koče) with hearty Slovenian cuisine. The trail descends from high alpine terrain through forest and wine country to the Mediterranean coast. Slovenia's compact geography means dramatic landscape changes within short distances. The alpine sections require mountain experience and a head for heights.
