A 160km circuit around the Monte Rosa massif crossing between Switzerland and Italy over high alpine passes with views of numerous 4000m peaks. The route passes through the Zermatt valley, over the Theodul Pass — one of the highest trail crossings in the Alps — and descends into the Italian valleys of Gressoney and Alagna. Expect high altitude terrain, possible snow on passes even in summer, and mountain refuges at altitude. The trail demands good fitness and mountain experience, with some sections requiring careful route-finding.
